Have you ever heard the saying, “What you focus on grows”?
When it comes to expressing my flawless identity in Christ, I have found this to be true.
When we mess up, the natural tendency is to focus on our failure.
The thing is, the more we focus on our failure, the worse we feel.
And the worse we feel, the worse we act.
What if there was a better way to respond when we fail to express our holy identity in Christ?
Lean in and listen to these life-giving words from your Beloved if you want to begin happily expressing your authentic holiness in Christ!
“My love, when you sin and I make you aware of it, there are generally two ways you will respond.”
“The outcome of one is misery; the outcome of the other is happy holiness.”
“Let’s start with the wrong way to respond.”
“Because your thinking has not yet been fully renewed with truth, you feel dirty and distant from Me.”
“And because emotions are powerful motivators, you mentally disconnect from Me, convincing yourself that I have left you.”
“After all, you reason, how could a perfect and holy God stand to be in the presence of one who has failed so miserably?”
“My Spirit is not the source of this reasoning.”
“The right way to respond to sin begins with acknowledging truth.”
“The truth that your clean and close union with Me will never be altered by your behavior.”
“The wonderful life-filled truth is that, when you sin, I am right there in your new heart doing what I do best—unconditionally loving you and motivating you to turn away from it.”
“I never change, regardless of what you do or don’t do.”
“But if you believe the lie that I leave you or turn my heart away from you when you sin, by whose power will you be able to stop sinning?”
“When you fully consider the answer to this question, you will realize that it makes no sense at all for you to do anything but fix your eyes on My indwelling Spirit, thank Me for My power to turn from your sin, and get back to delightfully expressing your holy self in Me.”
