If you listen to Christian radio, you have likely heard (and loved) contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Lauren Daigle’s hit song “You Say.”
The lyrics reflect the the Christian’s struggle to believe that what God says about them is true, regardless of what they are feeling/experiencing in their Monday-through-Sunday living on this earth.
There’s one line in the song that the Lord seems to keep amplifying to me: You say I am loved, when I can’t feel a thing.
My heart’s honest response has been, “Lord, I know you want us to walk by faith and not by sight, but is it really Your intention that we go through this world without tangible experiences of your special love for each one of us?
“Don’t You want each one of us to feel Your one-of-a-kind love in the same way that a good earthly husband would want his wife to feel his love for her?”
This is what I sense is His response to me: “Kim, while it is true that you won’t feel my special love for you every second of every day, there are things you can do to facilitate the experience of My delight in and love for you.”
“My Word is filled with Love Notes straight from my heart to Yours.”
“I want you to picture Me sitting at a desk with a blank sheet of paper and a pen in hand.”
“As I gaze at your portrait, I can’t help but smile, because you said yes to eternal union with Me.”
“My special love for you swells within my heart and overflows as I begin to write Love Notes to you.”
(Note: while we will never be separated from Christ in spirit, we are currently separated from His physical presence.)
My love, I’ve never quit loving you and I never will.
You can expect love, love, and more love from Me!
I love you so much, I gave My life for you so that we could be united forever in holy spiritual union.
My unconditional love for you was settled for all time when I willingly laid down my life for you.
My love has been poured out within your heart through My Spirit who was given to you.
I demonstrated My perfect love toward you by dying for you while you were still a sinner.
Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will ever be able to separate you from My love.
Because I died for you and your old self died in Me, My love is now the controlling force in your new spiritual heart.
I chose you as My beloved before the earth was ever created.
I chose you in Me so that you would instantly and forever be made holy and blameless in Me when you believed into Me.
Because of My rich mercy and great love for you, even when you were dead in your sins, I made you alive together with Me by grace.
I raised you up with Me and seated you with Me in the heavens so that I could forevermore lavish you with the surpassing riches of My grace in loving-kindness.
According to the riches of My glory, I granted you to be strengthened with power through My Spirit in your inner man, so that I could dwell in your heart through faith.
I rooted and grounded you in My love so that you would be able to experience the breadth, the length, the height, and depth of My love for you.
My dearest darling, take heart while you wait for My coming.
We will dwell together eternally in holy matrimony with joy unspeakable—a joy that could only be fully experienced in your glorious resurrection body.
I long for that moment when your faith will become sight and you no longer have to experience the struggles of this fallen world.
Until then, even when you can’t feel a thing, believe My perfect love for you.
Dear reader, do you long to feel what Christ feels for you on a regular basis? Meditate on His Word. See and hear Him tell you that He will never stop loving you, regardless of what you do or don’t do. Ask Him to show you in tangible ways His special love for you.
